A combination of these techniques can be used that best help you heal:
Deep Tissue
It is important to dispel the misconception that deep tissue work is a “seek and conquer, no pain, no gain” technique. Deep tissue is not painful and can be very nurturing. This technique manipulates the deeper layers of the muscles to relax, lengthen, and release holding patterns in the body. A massage does not consist entirely of deep work either. Deep work is intended to be used when the need arises, perhaps several times during a massage treatment.
Neuromuscular Therapy
NMT is a highly specialized technique used to restore muscle tissue back to normal tonus, free up holding patterns from old injuries, alleviate chronic pain, and aid in injury rehabilitation. This technique identifies the problem areas by examining ischemia(decreased blood supply), trigger points(hyperirritable areas), nerve entrapment/compression, postural distortions, and emotional wellbeing.
Sports Massage
This type of massage uses a lot of stretching and movement to facilitate recovery and or prevent injury for the active athlete or weekend hiker. Specific techniques are used to maximize range of motion, speed recovery from work out/event and can be used intermittently during training to enhance performance.
Pregnancy Massage
Special care is taken during this time of wonderful change, and some not so welcome changes during pregnancy. The entire body is adapting to the new life growing within. Massage during this time can help with the aches, pains, stress and fatigue.
Myofascial Release
This is an excellent technique to free up restrictions, increase range of motion, and speed healing. MR consists of skin rolling and stretching techniques that stretch the fascia(tissue) which is woven throughout the body.
Lymphatic Massage
This type of massage is a very subtle and relaxing therapy. The technique improves the immune system by speeding up the removal of toxins, excess fluids, inorganic substances, viruses, bacteria, dead cells, and even fats. A great technique if your immune system has been compromised.
Reflexology
It is believed that reflex points on the feet open the energy channels throughout the body. This technique focuses on tender points on the feet and acts as a guide to what’s going on in the rest of the body.
